"As our way of recognizing the significance of Independence Day, we at Tim Hortons wish to offer this breakfast favorite, reminiscent of its Filipino homey taste." ~Stephanie Guerrero, Marketing Director for Tim Hortons Philippines

If the Philippines will ever have a national bread, it would be Pandesal (sometimes spelled as "pan de sal") or soft bread frequently purchased from a local bakery. Pandesal, or "bread of salt," which was introduced in the 16th century, is relatively sweet and is unofficially the Philippine National Bread. There's no Filipino who doesn't eat pandesal, especially in the morning during breakfast perfect with a hot coffee or choco. Pandesal is eaten and consumed daily in every Filipino table.

Kakigori is a Japanese shaved ice dessert flavored with syrup and toppings.

The Philippines is really having that vibe of summer still and how do you cool down? In our country, one of the best and most yummy dessert we eat to somehow ease down the summer heat is to buy halo-halo just outside our house or what we call (Kanto), and one glass sometimes is not enough. But I had discovered one restaurant that will surely satisfy and quench your thirst due to the hit of the sun and that is the first branch of Shari Shari Kakigori House here in the Philippines, located at Serendra, BGC. Which opened in 2015 and has two other branches in Hong Kong: Causeway Bay and Central SoHo.

Popular flavors include strawberry, cherry, lemon, green tea, grape, melon, "Blue Hawaii", sweet plum, and colorless syrup. Some shops provide colorful varieties by using two or more syrups. To sweeten kakigōri, condensed or evaporated milk is often poured on top of it.

In addition to the streets, kakigōri is sold in festivals, convenience stores, coffee shops, and restaurants. During the hot summer months, kakigōri is sold virtually everywhere in Japan. Especially at summer festivals and fairs, it is as popular as yakisoba, takoyaki, and cotton candy.
